Big Changes at Southern Lawyers Insurance Program
As you may have heard (or will soon be made aware of) big changes are unfolding at Southern Lawyers Insurance Program (a/k/a “SLIP” or SouthernLawyersIns.com).
Aubrey Smith has retired, completing his long career in the Lawyers Professional Liability arena with Southern Lawyers Insurance Program. His wife Gail and close associate Ben Parks, have also left Southern Lawyers Insurance Program as well.
Southern Lawyers Insurance Program Shutdown Impact
Having known Aubrey for the past 16 years I, along with his clients, will miss his contribution to our shared insurance industry niche. However, with the shutting down of Southern Lawyers Insurance Program also come new challenges and opportunities for everyone who has worked with Aubrey and the Southern Lawyers Insurance Program. While we were competitors Aubrey, Ben and I at times also collaborated in order to solve a specific client’s goals and objectives. Working with these guys was always a pleasure.
Difficult Communications with SLIP
The management team tasked with handling the fallout from the shutdown of Southern Lawyers Insurance Program has been difficult to reach via phone and email. I know, I have tried too!
As a critical business service industry, accessibility is an absolute necessity. You pay for this and deserve nothing less.
Alden and Associates Provides Transition
We at Alden and Associates, Inc. have already provided multiple solutions to many Southern Lawyers Insurance Program clients in recent months. We are getting the job done professionally, correctly, and expeditiously. Our focus is problem solving, identifying and addressing challenges where we find them.
Southern Lawyers Insurance Program insurance contract was underwritten by a Lloyd’s of London syndicate and the SLIP contract with this Lloyd’s syndicate has been terminated. Here at Alden and Associates, Inc. we also provided coverage via Lloyd’s of London. However, there are many Lawyers Professional Liability underwriters that may be a better fit for your law firm.
Alden and Associates, Inc. is a multi-line Independent Agent/Broker accessing over 30 insurance underwriters for Lawyers Professional Liability alone. Additional underwriters for other Property/Casualty lines of coverage such as Cyber Risk, LegalFeeGuard, Property, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Bonds, Crime, Employment Practices, For Profit and Not For Profit Directors Officers is available.
In fact, we are the exclusive broker in Georgia for both SafeLaw Cyber Risk Insurance for Lawyers and LegalFeeGuard Programs.
SafeLaw is a cyber risk program providing both 3rd party liability and 1st party property losses such as Social Engineering, a/k/a Cyber Crime or Computer Fraud, Ransomware, and the extremely expensive Forensics Investigation costs. Other key benefits include Business Interruption, Data Restoration, Crisis Management and other 1st party costs.
The LegalFeeGuard program is an insurance policy that provides for exposure to financial losses attributable to Statute 9-11-68. The Plaintiff is the primary beneficiary of this attractive coverage offer. However, by simply providing the coverage for the Plaintiff by default other parties can benefit from a policy payout. The Plaintiff’s attorney can benefit from the coverage payout and not having his/her contingency fee diminished or exhausted altogether. And the Defense Counsel can actually have a source of collectible funds in the event the Plaintiff is held responsible for the additional defense costs per Georgia Statute 9-11-68.
